    Description

17th century framed print from the personal collection of Hermann Göring at Berghof.
It is a prize of war of the 2nd Division Blindée (=Armored Division) with the autograph of Général de division (=Major General) Leclerc; we find the official stamp of the 2nd D.B (photo 3) and the original signature in pencil of General Leclerc (photo 4 & 9). These prize of war were made official in order to allow the fighters of the 2nd D.B. to bring home a souvenir of their exploits.

was appointed major general on May 25, 1943 and on April 10, 1944, the 2nd Armored Division began its embarkation for England, where it was assigned to the 3rd American Army under General Patton.
As part of General Patton's 3rd Army, Leclerc's division, or “Cross of Lorraine division”, sometimes even became the spearhead of American attacks.
On the night of May 4 to 5, 1945, they seized Adolf Hitler's Kehlsteinhaus (
    Eagle's Nest
) in Berchtesgaden, Bavaria, and held it until May 10, when they were replaced by American troops.
